Leafs vs. Jets AKA. Live from Leafs Nation just...
Both teams have been on a streak. The Leafs were on a three game winning streak and the Jets were down just as many. The two teams meet up on Wednesday, and event that will be rather confusing for me as a fan of both teams. I will be cheering for the Leafs, there’s no question about that. However I also want to see the Jets play well. So far Winnipeg has shown it has the enthusiasm it...

I’m excited to see MacArthur play tomorrow night against the Flames. If he can adapt to “the New NHL” (which after a 2 game suspension, he should now be familiar with) I think Clark MacArthur will be a really significant part of the Leafs offence.

I love when tech blogs break down a new device’s bill of materials, so here the the BOM for my first year of playing hockey. If anyone would like a break down of brand/model just ask. I got mostly Reebok 3K series stuff though. Embrace the Fuck-Ups
I didn’t want to write about the crowd, or the atmosphere. That has been hashed over for the last three months through numerous Gary fucking Lawless articles and TSN player interviews but I will humour one more post on the subject. Consider this a final report on the hype. October Ninth felt like a real hockey game. Sure the crowd was insane, but that ended quickly. Not long into the first...

Be sure to watch the videos along the right side of the page. Don Cherry continues to fill his role as biggest jackass in hockey (which isn’t easy considering some of his peers). UPDATE Cherry supposedly apologizes for his comments on this episode of Coach’s Corner. I say supposedly because it seems more like Ron McLean trying to dig his partner out of the hole he dug himself,...

americanmccarver: **Michele Catalano:** There are circumstances in sports in which you find yourself doing something you said you would never do. Maybe you’re a Red Sox fan rooting for the Yankees to beat the Rays. Or maybe you’re me, defending Sean Avery. A couple of nights ago Philadelphia Flyer Wayne Simmonds got into a heated exchange with Avery on the ice and called him - ok,...

Byfuglien the Artist & Some Trading Cards
So everyone knows about the whole boating story by now and the 4 charges against Big Buff.  Well, more things seem to keep adding to the story.  Did you know that beforehand, Buff was approached by a trading card company (Panini America formerly Donross) to do a special card for them.  The player draws a doodle on the back of the cardof their choosing and the card gets randomly submitted into a...

Bogosian Signed
The Jets have finally signed Zach Bogosian to a new 2 year contract worth $5 million. Seems like all the straggling free agents are signing today (Tavares, Marchand and likely Schenn). Hopefully he pans out and develops into the player he has the potential to be. $2.5 million a year is a decent price for someone that was a health scratch for most of January last year.

Oilers 2 / Jets 0 Recap
I listened/watched to the game today (from the streaming feed, not radio), anyways, here’s what I noticed.  - Gregoire is a shooter, he had some quality shots on goal and were from good spots on the ice.  I don’t know anything about him, but Eric O’Dell’s name was being mentioned a lot.  - Schiefele was playing well, set up some good chances, but couldn’t...

americanmccarver: 14-year-old Lexi Peters wanted to play as a girl character in the EA Sports NHL games. But no female characters customizations were available. “I asked my dad, ‘Why aren’t there girls in the NHL video game?’ And he said, ‘I don’t know, write a letter.’ So, I did,” Lexi told the Globe… Thought this was worth reblogging .

At ease with the logo | The Uniter: Winnipeg’s... →
Sean Perkins presents one of the most rational opinions I’ve heard on the Jets logo. As someone who is not terribly fond of the new logo, I actually found myself agreeing with Perkins’ argument right up until the end. When he starts talking about how Canada may in the future have to defend its borders is where he looses me. Yes, our future is uncertain, but if we have to defend...

Jets Sign Wellwood...yay...I guess?
Photo courtesy The Hockey News According to numerous reports, Kyle Wellwood has signed with the Jets. Wellwood’s a questionable pick up.  On one hand he’s good on the faceoff and shoot out, on the other hand he’s not exactly known for being a “presence” on the ice. It’ll be interesting to see how our center position breaks down.  Antropov can play both on...

Everyday I'm Byfuglien
On Wednesday night Dustin Byfuglien was arrested for, according to the Winnipeg Free Press (http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/Jets-128881848.html), “probable cause for third degree boating while intoxicated and the refusal of a blood or urine test.”  Now what the hell is third degree boating!? Doing a Google search for “third degree boating” or “3rd degree...

Mason, Maiden and Jets
One of the really cool things about hockey is the art on the goalie masks.  Jets goalie Chris Mason recently revealed his new mask, along with talking about how excited he is to play in Winnipeg and how he idolized Bob Essensa growing up.  See the full article and more pictures at http://ingoalmag.com/masks/masons-new-winnipeg-jets-mask-includes-iron-maiden-mascot/.
